Save Yuba Salmon Campaign

Campaign Goals

To eliminate the unnecessary losses of salmon and steelhead at and around the Daguerre Point Dam site
To create volitional passage opportunities for sturgeon to suitable spawning areas in the Yuba
To work with other stakeholders to improve spawning and rearing habitat on the lower Yuba
To reintroduce salmon and steelhead to ancestral spawning areas
To build a community of supporters who understand the historical, ecological, and cultural importance of salmon in the upper Yuba watershed

Campaign Strategies and Actions

Pursue legal remedies from the federal government for failing to protect and recover threatened species that are impacted by federal projects
Educate local, state, and federal policymakers about threats and opportunities for Yuba salmon
Work collaboratively to ensure that proposed fisheries agreements on the lower Yuba reach a resolution that provides long-term protection of Yuba salmon
Engage community members in riparian restoration projects on the lower Yuba that improve rearing habitat for juvenile salmon
Continue to advocate for levee setbacks and floodplain restoration downstream of the Yuba, which provides critical rearing habitat for juvenile salmon
Educate 20 percent of school children from source to sea through our 'Journey of the Salmonids' assembly program.
